Our Beliefs

The Bible

The Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man, without any mixture of error. We believe all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy and serves as a testimony to Christ, who is the focus of divine revelation.

We believe there is only one living and true God, Who is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. God reveals Himself to us as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal attributes.

God the Father

God the Father is the Creator of all things, reigning over His universe and His creatures perfectly. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

God the Son

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus became a man yet was completely without sin. He offered Himself as a sacrifice for sinful people, making forgiveness for our sins possible by His death on a cross. Three days after He was crucified, Jesus was raised from the dead and appeared to His followers in the flesh. He ascended into heaven and is now with God the Father, mediating for us as both fully God and fully man.

God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who enables men to understand truth. He convicts of sin, comforts believers, and guides Christians into developing godly character. The moment a person confesses Jesus Christ as Lord, the Holy Spirit enters that believer and will remain there forever.

Man is the special creation of God, made in God’s own image. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was given the freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Therefore, as soon as a person is capable of moral action, he/she are guilty of sin. Only the grace of God can bring a person back into fellowship with Him, enabling him/her to fulfill the purpose of God.

Salvation is a work of God’s grace where believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart brought on by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin in which the sinner responds in repentance from sin and places their faith in Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local congregation of baptized believers that seek to extend the good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the life, and the resurrection to walk in a new life in Christ Jesus. ?? The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience where members memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. Children, from the moment of conception, are a gift from God.
